Short courses


On Sunday 22 May 2016, a range of full-day short courses are scheduled prior to the opening of the congress. Registration is open and accessible to all.  Note that you do not need to register to the congress to attend a short course. 

The short courses at SETAC Annual Meetings provide educational opportunities to our members and our guests. Teaching a short course also provides an excellent opportunity for getting to know (young) people working in the same field of interest and thus forming networks. 

Following full day courses (08:00 - 17:00) will be available prior to the SETAC Europe 26th Annual Meeting (click on the course number for details): 

  • SC1-An introduction to ecological risk assessment of crop protection products (Peter Dohmen, BASF, Germany) (This course will start as from 10am in Salle I).
  • SC2-Implementing bioavailability-based Environmental Quality Standards for metals practical and pragmatic approaches (Graham Merrington, WCA Environment, UK) CANCELLED
  • SC3-Modelling human and ecosystems exposure and impacts for life-cycle assessment - the USEtoxR consensus model (Peter Fantke, Technical University of Denmark, Denmark) CANCELLED
  • SC4-Statistical issues in the design and analysis of ecotox experiments (John Green, DuPont, USA) (Course will take place in Salle M)
  • SC5-Statistical Methods in Ecotoxicology Using R (Christian Ritz, University of Copenhagen, Denmark) (Course will take place in Salle B+C)
  • SC6-The Endocrine System Global Perspectives on Testing Methods and Evaluation of Endocrine Activity (Ellen Mihaich, Environmental and Regulatory Resources, USA) (Course will take place in Salle N)

Note: SETAC Europe does not specifically advance any software or applications

 

Registration fees for the (full day) courses:

  • SETAC member (HIC)*:                245 euro
  • SETAC student member (HIC)*:   110 euro
  • Member (LIC/LUMIC)*:                 110 euro
  • Non-member:                                375 euro
  • Student non-member:                   165 euro
*HIC (High Income)LIC (Low income) and LUMIC (Lower and Upper Middle Income) countries as listed by the World Bank.

The registration fee for a full day course (08:00 - 17:00) includes attendance to the course, course materials, coffee break(s) and lunch from 12:00 - 13:00.

We strongly encourage early registration for short courses in order to avoid disappointment, as 1) the number of registrations for some courses are limited and 2) the final decision on whether the short course will be programmed at the meeting will depend on the number of registrations received on 22 March.

If you have not registered by that date, we might need to cancel the course you are interested in, due to lack of registrations.

  • You can register for a short course only. 
  • You are already registered for the meeting and you would like to add a short course to your registration? No problem, simply go to the SETAC Europe store and register for the course of your choice.

 

Need some financial support to attend a short course?

A limited number of grants are available for SETAC student members who wish to attend a short course in Nantes.

These are the main conditions to apply for a SETAC course grant:

  • Must be a SETAC student member (provide member number)
  • Must submit a brief CV and motivation letter
  • Must submit a letter of recommendation
